The Nonprofit Truth is going live.
For a while now, I’ve been carrying an idea that won’t let me go. I’ve wanted to create a space for real conversations about working in the social impact sector, not the polished conference panels or carefully curated annual reports, but the honest dialogue about what this work truly requires of us.
Last year, I was close to launching it at full scale. I had recorded a few conversations, and a vision was forming. And then I became a mom.
Welcoming children into my life was the most beautiful ambition I’ve ever realised, and it reshaped everything: my expectations of myself, my understanding of time, and my capacity. Some professional plans moved aside as I adjusted to a new rhythm. I don’t regret that pause, but I do recognize that this idea never left me.
If anything, it grew stronger.
Motherhood sharpened my awareness of the sacrifices embedded in this work: the invisible trade-offs, the emotional labour, and the tension between mission and sustainability. Those are the conversations I want to hold.
So this year, I’m moving forward.
I’m launching an organic, community-focused video podcast under The Nonprofitable Truth. It will be casual and grassroots by design, featuring short virtual conversations with leaders who are willing to explore both the joy and the strain of this sector.
For a while, I questioned whether there was room for another podcast. The space feels crowded. But I’ve let go of that fear. Depth still matters. Safe space still matters. And I know I can hold that space with care.
If you’re interested in joining the conversation or sharing your perspective on the challenges and rewards of working in the social impact sector, I invite you to reach out. Your candid voice could be part of this year’s video podcast episodes.
